Mr. Richards is a managing director with The Claro Group and is based in Chicago,
Illinois. He specializes in enterprise-wide cost reduction efforts including supply
chain management, spend management, strategic sourcing, process efficiency improvement
and reengineering. His focus is on assisting clients identify and implement opportunities
to streamline their cost structure. In addition, he specializes in helping clients
resolve their issues in the purchasing area. Some of Barton's most recent experiences
include: engagement manager of an enterprise-wide improvement initiative at a large
services company; led a cost reduction project in the IT area for a healthcare provider;
managed a global sourcing effort at a large consumer products company; and led a
team to identify improvement opportunities for a key menu item at a large fast food
company.
Barton has managed numerous engagements in various industries including retail,
consumer products, manufacturing, service, healthcare and utilities. He has assisted
clients with the strategy, design and deployment of cost reduction solutions including
process improvements and strategic sourcing.
Barton's previous professional experience includes senior manager in the Spend Management
practice at BearingPoint, and senior manager in Business Consulting at Arthur Andersen
in the Supply Chain practice.
Barton received his MBA from the University of Chicago and a Bachelor of Business
Administration degree in finance from the University of Notre Dame.
