Mr. Jacob Parsons is a Managing Director in the firm’s Disputes, Claims and Investigations practice based in Washington, DC. He provides financial analysis and insights to assist companies resolve complex claims and disputes.

Jake has over 15 years of experience preparing insurance claims, providing litigation support and consulting clients on a wide range of matters. He works with policyholders to quantify, present and achieve settlement of major property damage, business interruption and liability insurance claims. His efforts in this area have contributed to hundreds of millions of dollars in settlement recoveries for his clients. Jake consults on commercial disputes where he advises legal counsel and business executives on financial and economic issues, including lost profits, damages quantification and insurance allocation. He also excels at developing statistical analyses to inform decision-making in settlement discussions, litigation, and mergers and acquisitions.

Mr. Parsons has been a member of The Claro Group since its founding in 2005. His prior professional experience includes positions in the Insurance Claims Consulting practice at LECG and the Financial Advisory Services practice at Arthur Andersen.

Assisting policyholders in the hospitality, real estate, retail, healthcare and energy sectors prepare, present and achieve settlement of claims for property damage and business interruption losses (stemming from direct loss, ingress/egress and orders of civil authority) in connection with named storms Harvey, Irma and Maria.

Cyber Crime Claim

Assisting major loyalty program administrator analyze, prepare and present claims for damages and expenses arising out of a malware incident orchestrated by Russian hackers that resulted in the fraudulent redemption of millions of dollars in gift cards.

Hospitality Hurricane Claim

Assisting owner of a luxury Hilton Head Island hotel and resort evaluate, prepare and present claims for property damage, business interruption and extra expenses in connection with a Hurricane Matthew loss that resulted in a several month closure of the property.

Retail Flood Claim

Assisting big-box retailer with all aspects of a significant claim for property damage and time element losses resulting from the total loss of a Louisiana retail center destroyed in a flood.

Construction E&O Claim

Consultant to international resort & gaming company in connection with errors and omissions arising from design deficiencies in the construction of a billion plus dollar gaming and entertainment complex.

Multi-State Investigations

Consultant to several major integrated oil & gas companies in multi-state investigations and litigation involving allegations of fraud, unjust enrichment and false claims pertaining to recoveries from state UST funds.

Builders Risk Claim

Consulted on builders risk claim resulting from a water main failure that occurred during the construction of an entertainment property featuring a 23-story hotel and 3,000-seat theater. Mr. Parsons handled all aspects of quantifying and presenting the claim, which was resolved for 100% of amounts claimed within four months of the loss event.

Retro Premium Dispute

Consultant to global EPC Company in complex insurance dispute. Jake provided analysis and modeling of a complex retrospective premium insurance program under thousands of exposure and allocation scenarios, which contributed to the successful resolution of the decade long dispute.

Mining Co. Pollution Claim

Assisted mining company measure, prepare and achieve settlement of first-party and third party claims stemming from an oil spill that affected our client’s property and the adjacent seaway.

Long Tail APH Claims

Assisted numerous clients in the automotive, chemical, oil and gas, paper, construction, waste management and shipbuilding industries value and achieve global insurance buy-backs or coverage in place agreements for long-tail asbestos, pollution and health hazard claims.

Contingent BI Claim

Assisted chemical company evaluate and achieve settlement of a contingent business interruption claim for losses arising from an explosion at a critical supplier's production overseas facility.

Business Interruption Value Quantification

Assisted policyholders across a wide range of industries quantify insurable business interruption values for reporting to property insurance policies. Analyses considered past and projected future financial performance as well as supply chain interdependencies to inform exposure levels at each insured location and model maximum BI exposure across all locations.

Insolvent Claim Analysis & Sale

Assisted policyholders value and sell agreed claims with insolvent insurance estates. Jake has a proven record of helping clients to achieve sales prices that are significantly higher than the best available offer they were able to solicit on their own behalf.

Due Diligence Exposure Analysis

Conducted expected value analysis of asbestos and environmental exposures and offsetting insurance assets for buyers and sellers in the context of M&A due diligence.
